David Cholet Holmes obituary, San Diego, CA

David Holmes Obituary

David Cholet Holmes passed away peacefully in his sleep in San Diego, CA on October 4, 2025 after a long battle with Cancer. He was 78 years old.

Born in Syracuse, NY, to Allen and Janice Holmes, he grew up in Baldwinsville, NY and graduated from Charles W Baker High School where he played football and track and was voted the "Personality Plus" male by the Class of 1965.

Following high school, he attended Duke and Syracuse Universities and served in the Massachusetts National Guard. For most of his adult life he lived in North Attleboro, MA, where he managed a group of fast food restaurants and, later, was a real estate agent. He was a senior warden in the local Episcopal Church, an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriot fan and always cherished his summer experiences at the family cottage on Butterfield Lake, NY. Later in life he lived in San Diego, CA with his brother, Rob and received multiple community service awards.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Deborah Holmes Hoffman, and his daughter Allison Holmes. He is survived by his children Christie Fusi, Catherine Lafferty, and Matthew Johansen, and their mother, Nancy Christie Johansen, and his loving brother, Rob Holmes.

There will be a private celebration of life at a later date In San Diego. Inurnment will be in the family plot at White Chapel Memory Gardens, Syracuse, NY
