Geraldine Marie (Galanti) McDermott, age 91, passed away peacefully at her home in Foxborough surrounded by members of her devoted family. She was the daughter of the late Salvano and Marie (Metrano) Galanti of Mansfield, MA.
Geraldine was born in Mansfield on November 6, 1930 and was a 1947 graduate of Mansfield High School. After marrying Francis Joseph McDermott on April 22, 1950 at St. Mary's Church, Mansfield, they moved to Astoria, OR, and later resided in Hopedale, Mansfield, and North Attleboro, MA. Geraldine worked as an assembler for the former Foxboro Company for more than two decades. Geraldine loved spending time in her kitchen creating wonderful meals for her family and was a very supportive and fun-loving mother to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She had great talent for crocheting and ceramics. She also enjoyed spending time at the beaches of Cape Cod, Rhode Island, and Florida and traveling across the country with her husband in their R.V. She was a member of the Jolly Foxes Campers. Geraldine was the beloved wife of the late Francis McDermott, and mother of MaryAnn Small and her husband Mark of Foxborough, Kathleen Engdahl and husband Mark of Dedham, Patricia Silberhorn and husband Tom of Machiasport, ME, and Michael McDermott and wife Lee Ann of Dennis. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is the sister of the late Robert Galanti and his wife Grace. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Friday, November 26 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 10:30 AM Saturday. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Mansfield.
