Born in Attleboro MA on August 10, 1926, she was the daughter of Joaquim and Isabel Bernardo. She was raised in Mansfield, MA and graduated from Mansfield High School in 1944. She was a communicant of Saint Mary's Church in Mansfield and a member of the Catholic Women's Club.

She was proudly a Doric Dame at the Massachusetts State House; volunteered at the local library and South Shore Hospital; was active in the Garden Club and volunteered at St Coletta's School for special needs children.

She and her husband travelled extensively including a favorite trip to Portugal where her parents were born. She loved Cape Cod where she and her husband owned a house in Chatham for 60 years and created many happy memories with family and friends.

She was an avid sports fan, especially her beloved Red Sox and was a Patriots season ticket holder. She also participated in sports in various tennis and golf leagues. She was a voracious reader and always had stacks of books in her home. If she wasn't reading a book, she was reading the Boston Globe. She loved crossword puzzles and continued to do them late into her life. She was also an expert bridge player.
