Joyce B. Braun

Joyce B. (Beard) Braun, 87, of Rehoboth, MA, formerly of Attleboro, MA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her residence on February 20, 2026. She was the wife of the late John A. Braun to whom she was married on June 22, 1963 and who passed on February 9, 2009.

Born in Reading, Pennsylvania on June 30, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Mary Lovera (Weiss) Beard and the late Henry Warren Beard. She was raised and educated in Pennsylvania where she later earned her bachelor's degree in education from Penn State University in 1959. Joyce taught elementary children for several years in PA before moving to MA. Joyce was a Hospice volunteer and developed a keen interest in medicine and health care and continued learning throughout her life.

She moved to Rehoboth in December 2004 from Pocahontas Lane in Attleboro, MA where she had resided for 40 years.

Mrs. Braun and her family attended St. John the Evangelist in Attleboro, MA where her husband, John, served as a lector and they were both CCD teachers for many years.

In addition to being a dedicated wife and mother to her family, she was employed by Health Care of Southeastern Massachusetts prior to her retirement and caring for her husband.

One of her favorite pastimes was organizing and attending family and friend get-togethers and parties with Christmas being her favorite time of the year. In addition, she enjoyed researching and studying her family genealogy and traveling, especially to her favorite destination Walt Disney World.

Joyce loved to talk and would regularly spice up conversations with keen insights, pithy jokes and salty observations.

She was the cherished mother of Heather B. Foley and her husband, Joseph Foley, of Rehoboth, MA; Christopher J. Braun and his wife, Julie (Young) Braun, of Piedmont, CA and Gregory E. Braun and his wife, Kathryn Buckley, of Holliston, MA.

Known as "Doe" to her grandchildren: Patrick H. Foley and his wife, Tori (Mulhern) Foley of Rehoboth, MA; Maxwell C. Braun of Piedmont, CA; Charlotte A. Braun of Piedmont, CA; Sophia H. Braun of Holliston, MA and Mari Braun of Holliston, MA. Joyce loved to talk with them and spoil them on any occasion.

Also left to mourn the loss of her "grammy" is her beloved canine companion, "Panko".

All are warmly welcome to attend Visitation on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" of the Dyer-Lake Funeral Home, 161 Commonwealth Avenue, Village of Attleboro Falls, North Attleboro, MA followed by a prayer service at 7:00 pm in the "Memorial Chapel" officiated by family friend, Deacon Del Malloy.

A private burial is planned at the Massachusetts National Cemetery
