Alec was an outstanding citizen in many ways. He was a strong supporter of the USC NROTC Alumni Assoc. Alec was named Admiral of the Year in 2012 by the Alumni Assoc. Alec also was most knowledgeable about real estate. He had a great sense of humor and was a friend to all. Many of us will miss his friendship and visits. Alec, you had a great life! Rest in peace.
Your friend,

I loved Alec. He was a good friend and helped me a lot when I first became a real estate developer with good advice on what to do, and not.
We were together once in 1989 at the Isle of Palms on the third floor, looking out at a hotel worker slave away in the hot sun; interest rates were 20% and times were bad. Alec said, "Bobby you see that guy down there, he used to be a developer."

To Judy and family,
I was sure sad to hear the news of Alec's passing. What a great friend he was to so so many people. Alec lived by the motto that you are not going to be remembered for what you said you were going to do. You will be remembered for what you did do while here on earth. Alec do so much for so many people. I know when he slipped the surly bonds of earth he came face to face with God. Rest in peace my friend. Job well done here on earth. Judy I will keep you and family in my prayers.

To Mary Boyd, Beth, Claire,
Little Alec and Virginia,
I am truly saddened to hear of Big Alec´s passing. In 1976 the Watt family moved to Columbia and our first home was on Kilbourne Road. One of the best things about our first home here was being backdoor neighbors to the Chaplin family. It was a joy watching our then young families grow up over the next five or so years. We will cherish those memories and are grateful for the times we spent together. We send our love to each of you and your families. May Big Alec Rest in Peace and my light perpetual shine upon him.
