James Bolin Obituary

James (Jim) Martin Bolin, 76, a long time resident of North, S.C., passed away on November 20, 2025 in Fleming Island, Fla. Born August 27, 1949 in Columbia, S.C., he was son of the late Windred and Violet Bolin. He earned his Eagle Scout rank in 1967, graduated from North High School, and married Sherryl Paula Johnson on October 31, 1969 in Albany, Ga. Jim served in the US Navy for 30 years attaining the rank of Avionics Master Chief. Following his retirement from the US Navy, he worked as a dispatcher for the Florida Highway Patrol and performed facility maintenance at St. Catherine's Catholic Church before retiring in 2013. Jim was a member of Highlands Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla. and had a passion for flying. He is survived by his wife, Sherryl of over 56 years; his son, John Bolin; daughters, Mary Ann Hanson (Jack), Elizabeth Brannen (Josh), Christine Fierro (Matt); and ten grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Stuart Bolin (Nancy), Dennis Bolin (Judy), Cal Bolin (MichaelAnn) and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on December 19, 2025 at Highlands Baptist Church, 2159 Broward Road, Jacksonville, FL followed by burial at 1:30 p.m. at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Highlands Baptist Church or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Jim and I served together for several years at NAMTRAGRU at NAS JAX. He was a wonderful person, dedicated Navy Senior Chief and a true professional. Fair Winds and Following Seas, We have the watch, Rest In Peace with our Lord And Savior Jesus Christ.
