Natalie Tittiger Obituary

Born in Branchville South Carolina, making the town milk deliveries before school, she married at 20 after a two-month courtship and 3-day engagement. She lived in the Azores, upstate New York, and the Bay area as a military pilot's wife, but never had the chance to finish college, become an English teacher like her mother, or mature into a woman before she became a mother herself.

Natalie took motherhood as her life's purpose. She and her husband settled in Beaver County, PA to raise three boys before moving to Ft.Myers, FL in 1990 with their eldest granddaughter in tow. Her husband, Richard Hall Tittiger, passed in 2013. She was the mother of the late, Joseph F. Tittiger. And she is survived by her sons, Richard D. Tittiger (Maria) and William M. Tittiger (Colleen); her grandchildren Dr. Mindy E. Tittiger (who she raised), Heather Zurbach (Steve), Richelle Montgomery (Daniel), Ryan Tittiger, Emily Diani (Joe), and Samuel Tittiger. She loved us all deeply and never gave up on anyone, no matter how lost.

In her later years, she came into herself and became the social butterfly she was meant to be. Her wit and unexpected zingers won folks over, along with the genuine care beneath. She was quite funny when you let her just be her. She'd loved the beach, boiled peanuts, Duke's hash, fried green tomatoes, football, & children for a lifetime. And she grew to love Huntington Gardens, lunch in Malibu, kittens, and her home community at the Terraces in Altadena/Pasadena.

The sudden death of her eldest son, my father, a year ago broke her heart but the January Eaton Fire broke her entirely. Natalie Miley Tittiger, who I called "mom", was my lifeline. Nothing will be the same without her.
