Nathaniel Shivers, known as "Tan", was born July 14, 1951 to the late Adam Shivers, Jr. and Lila Mae Shivers. He entered into eternal rest on March 2, 2024 at Bayhealth Hospital in Dover, Delaware.
Nathaniel graduated from Wilkinson High School in 1970 in Orangeburg, SC and was a devoted student bus driver for the district for 3 years until graduation. After graduation, he relocated to Jersey City, NJ and was employed by the United Parcel Service (UPS).
Nathaniel retired from United Parcel Service (UPS) after a dedicated 45 years of service as District Manager. His dedication spread over innumerable aspects throughout his career. He was an entrepreneur and owner of "The Silver Fox Lounge" in Newark, New Jersey for several years. Upon retirement, Nathaniel owned and operated 'N & S' Trucking LLC in Symara, Delaware.
His love and admirations extended over many things, one of which was auto racing. To his racing associates he was known as "Gator", he was a member of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and he owned and operated the Top Fuel Dragsters.
Nathaniel leaves to cherish fond memories with his son Nathaniel Adam Shivers (Alicia) of Orlando, FL; his partner and fiance', Ann Richardson of their home; step-daughter, Jernea Sullivan of New Jersey; four sisters: Carrie Booker of Orangeburg SC, Connie Shivers-Green (Joseph) of Charlotte, NC, Mary Bender of Houston, TX and Flossie Brown (Jacob) of Orangeburg SC; two brothers: Nathan Shivers (his twin) and Alphonso Shivers both of Orangeburg SC; and brother-in-law, John Lamkin III of Baltimore MD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Adam Shivers (twin of Eartha passed at birth); and sister, Eartha Shivers-Lamkin.
He departs and leaves a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.
