Robert "Bobby" Bethea III
ORANGEBURG -- It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Robert "Bobby" Bethea III, 68, owner of Bethea's Funeral Home.
He transitioned on Monday, Aug. 2, 2021, at his residence.
Robert is survived by his former wife, Ava Bethea; his devoted wife, Kay Bethea; his children, Amanda, Ashley, Christina, Dillon, India and Micah; and six grandchildren, Madison, Mya, Morgan, Taylor, Camille and Joshua.
According to his wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family greatly appreciates the outpouring of love and support that has been extended during this very difficult time and requests privacy as we mourn his passing.

So sorry that Bobby Bethea has left us to be with the Lord and his loved ones. He was such a GENTLEMAN with meaningful conversations when we greeted each other in church and in the community. Will certainly be MISSED by family, friends and associates. Rest in peace my brother...we will not forget you. You served our bereaved families in a CARING and dignified manner...as you late parents did. Rest in PEACE now!!

Special thanks to both Ava and Kay for sharing in the life of our Bobby as we affectionately called him. Bobby talked about his children all the time. Such a sweet spirit and humble being he was. Bethea, `The House of Care´ was the whole Hill´s funeral home for at least 6 decades. Bobby, himself, funeralized the majority of the families after his parent demised. Words cannot fully explain how we loved Bobby. The last text I received from Bobby was May 10, 2020 @ 10:19 AM. HAPPY MOTHER´S DAY!!! (Verbatim). John and I spent late hours in our home during the loss of our parents talking with Bobby esp. about the Bull Swamp Cemetery `ghost stories.´ We would laugh until I cried. We will truly miss Bobby. Our heartfelt prayers and condolences to the family. Bobby was always a steadfast friend of my late husband Jimmy Frinks. Jay, our son, was 6 months old when Jimmy passed and had many questions about his father. Bobby shared insights with him about growing up as friends. Whenever we stopped by or called he was always hospitable and welcoming like it was just yesterday since we spent time together.

Bobby would always greet me when we would run into one another around Orangeburg and especially as he dined at Chestnut Grill. He was always pleasant and had a smile on his face as we talked about in kind friends.
