ALVIN KNIGHT
ALTON — Alvin C. Knight, 81, passed away at 7:07 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017 at his home in Alton.
He was born Nov. 2, 1935, in Alton, Illinois, the son of Alvin and Jeweldean (Courdrey) Knight.
He married Beverly J. Nevels on Dec.15, 1969, in Clayton, Missouri. She preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 2014.
He retired as a cook at the Alton Mental Health, where he worked for most of his career; he later worked for the Haynor Library. He loved playing the steel guitar, listening to old time country music, dancing and fishing, especially for catfish.
He is survived by seven children, Robin Wilburn of Alton, Melody Hodges of East Alton, Ben Wood of Denver, Colorado, Justin and Shari Knight of Centennial, Colorado, Steve and Maureen Knight of East Alton, Tammy and Gary Koenig of Jerseyville, and Shannon and Greg Boucher of Grafton; seventeen grandchildren: Jason, Curtis, Derrick, Christine, Doo, Chris, Zach, Brenden, Ambria, Austin, Maddie, Reese, Tyrell, Jonathon, Jason, Jacob and Jonah; and seven great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Alton, where funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at 10 a.m.
A private burial will be held on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Can't say enough good about my friend Curt not only was he a great musician. He was also a great human being always had that smile. I will certainly miss him. My condolences too his family.

Miss you so much already, although my heart is aching...I know you are no longer suffering and my belief is you are now with mom and other family members and can dance and fish whenever you want. Thank you for being there for me, you were a good dad.
