Amelia J. McLagan, 81, of East Alton, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025.
She was born in Springfield, IL, on August 8, 1943, the daughter of Emilio and Francis (Plesh) Serena. Amelia married Lawrence A. McLagan in Alton on September 28, 1973. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2016.
Amelia worked for over 30 years as a lab technician at St. Joseph's and St. Anthony's Hospitals. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and traveling. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Christopher McLagain; two step-daughters, Elizabeth McLagan and Lisa Hayes; a granddaughter, Grace Ann McLagan; and a grandson, Jackson Thomas McLagan.
Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by other family members, Linda, Kathryn, Dorothy, John, and Serena.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 7, 2025, from 4 to 7 pm, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral services will also be at the funeral home on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 10 am, with Pastor Terry McKinzie as officiant.
Burial will follow at Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
The family would like to thank the Chiolero family for opening their home to her and making her part of their family.
