BILLY BRIDGEMAN
EAST ALTON — Billy Gene Bridgeman, 90, died at 7:23 a.m. April 3, 2018 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 7, 1927, in Louisiana, Missouri, son of William and Lucy (Abner) Bridgeman.
He married Katherine Hankins in Alton on March 28, 1952, and she died April 15, 1995.
Then he married Dorris Bell Oct. 12, 1997, and she died Nov. 21, 2003.
He was a millwright at Laclede Steel in Alton for 40 years. He retired in January 1991.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Rosemary Kay Osburn of Bethalto; two stepsons, Walter "Jack" and Judith Hankins of Carlinville, and John Hankins of Gillispie; 15 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Janet Tite of California, Shirley Johnson of Hardin and Joyce Looker of Jerseyville; one brother, William Bridgeman of Joliet.
He was preceeded in death by one stepdaughter, Fayetta Newby; two stepsons, Russell Hankins, Burton Ross, one sister, Sadie Sue, one half sister, Karen Fender; one half brother, Charles Wells.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Gray Funeral Home in Wood River where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday. Pastor David Landry will officiate.
Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
