C. Stone Obituary

C. Richard (Dick) Stone, 83, of Alton, Illinois, passed away on September 5, 2025 at Barnes Siteman hospital after a hard fought, twenty month battle with AML. He was born in Alton to the late Pauline (Hitch) Stone-Wells and Jesse Stone.
Richard began his career as a traveling photographer before following a calling to ministry, serving as a minister for the Unity Church. Known for his kindness, humor and deep spirituality, he brought warmth and encouragement to everyone he met. He never met a stranger. His church family across the country will miss him dearly.
He had many passions including motor sports, photography, bike riding and taking long rides with the Gateway Miata Club and the Missouri Route 66 Association. His best friends were his rescues, Bella the mini and Sophia the standard poodle. They both shared his love for the convertible and walking or biking the nature trails. They will continue their adventures with him in the afterlife.
Richard is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Wendy and Hank Burge and Nikki and Dan Will, his grandchildren, Brandy and her husband Ryan Meszaros, Alex Will and his wife Molly, Emily and her husband Colten Schneider, and two great-grandchildren, Oliver Will and Leni Meszaros.
In celebration of his life, an open house memorial will be held at Laux Brickhouse Grille in Bethalto, Illinois on Saturday, November 15 starting at 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
