Charlotte Britton Obituary

CHAROLTTE BRITTON

COTTAGE HILLS — Charlotte W. Britton, 94, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at her home.

Born Feb. 11, 1921, in Hillview, Ill., she was the daughter of William C. and Ruby J. (Emery) Pence.

She married John R. Britton March 23, 1946, in Columbus, Kan. He preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1991. Charlotte was a member of the Wood River Moose Lodge and Senior Citizens Plus. She was proud to be a charter member of the 1st General Baptist Church of Rosewood Heights.

Survivors include three sons, William Shewmaker of Alton, Michael Britton of Collinsville and Wayne Britton of Cottage Hills; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John R. Britton, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Kelly Etter.

Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at Paynic Home for Funerals, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey.

Memorials may be made to OSF St. Anthony's Hospice.
