Chris Fink Obituary
Rosewood Heights - Chris W. Fink, 78, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 26, 1946 in Chicago, he was a son of Christian and Anne (Laisch) Fink.
He married Sandra Sexton Aug. 9, 1969 in Dawson, IL. Together they shared 55 years of marriage.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, Chris served in Germany during the Vietnam Conflict Era. He retired in 2016 as a laboratory manager for Engineered Lubricants in Maryland Heights. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Fighting Illini. The digital game Candy Crush was a favorite of his, but his main pastime was his grandchildren. He never missed a sporting event, recital, concert, musical or any activity in which they were involved. He also was very active in his church, St. John United Methodist Church in Edwardsville.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, David Fink of Rosewood Heights, Gretchen (Jason) Henderson of Troy, and Eric (Nicole) Fink of Dana Point, CA; 5 grandchildren, Seth (Ashley) Fink, Alexander Fink, and Sophia, Jaden and Dillon Henderson; one great grandson, Dean Fink; and his close friend and "wing man" Bill Pierce of Maryville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daric Fink; a grandson, Christopher Fink; and two brothers, Donald and Thomas Fink.
Memorial visitation will be Saturday, Oct. 5 at St. John United Methodist Church, Edwardsville from 10 a.m. until services begin at noon.
Private inurnment will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
Memorials may be made to St. John United Methodist Church.
