DANIEL BEHRINGER
JERSEYVILLE — Daniel Frederick Behringer Sr., 80, died at 9:45 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois on Jan. 15, 1938, one of two children born to Daniel and Liona Margaret (White) Behringer.
As a young boy, his family relocated to Greene County, where he grew up near his grandfathers farm in Belltown, and graduated from Carrollton High School.
He married the former Wanda Fay Gansz on Aug. 29, 1959 in Jacksonville, Illinois, and they made their home there for a few years before moving back to Chicago, where he could find employment as a musician. Blessed with talent on the pedal steel guitar he became of member of the house band at Uncle Len's in Gary, Indiana.
As their boy got older they relocated back to the area, and he became employed with Olin Corp. in East Alton where he retired as a caster in 1998 after many years of dedicated service.
Daniel and Wanda were the proud parents of three sons, and together they shared 56 years of marriage before her death on July 24, 2016.
Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel and Hope Behringer of Jerseyville, and John Behringer, and his companion, Vivian Scoggins of Grafton; five grandchildren; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Linda Sandoz of Lancaster, Texas.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Behringer on June 11, 1991; and a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Behringer on May 30, 2009.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Crawford Funeral Home in Jerseyville, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Rev. Don Staten will officiate.
Burial will take place at the Rosedale Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Rosedale cemetery in care of the funeral home.
