Debra Mitchell
Alton - Debra Mitchell (Fillback/Dale) passed away June 30, 2024 with family by her side after a long battle that showed how tough she was. She was born September 2, 1959 in Alton to the late Thomas Fillback and Sandra Vail (Chappell/Fillback). Debra grew up in Wood River, IL with her two brothers, George Fillback of East Alton, Timothy Fillback of Alton and two sisters, Dana Fink (Joseph) of Brighton and Kassie Garland of Godfrey and her family (Mackenzie, Chase & Justice) and they survive. Also surviving are one son, Thomas Schwan of Alton who she was extremely close to along with her nephew, James Fillback and his family (Sarah, Elijah, Destin, Drake) and Tanner Fink and his family (Mandi and Oaklyn) along with many cousins and such. Debra worked her entire life at many local establishments Alton-Wood River Sportsmen's Club, Chez Marilyns, Alton VFW, Mac's Downtown, New Moon and Moonlight where her customers and coworkers were like family. Debra loved her family, friends, the music of Jimmy Buffet and Pink Flamingos, but her happy place was either on her patio or a beach with a book and glass of wine. She was a great daughter, mother, sister and friend. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Gent Funeral Home is in charge of arrangement.
