Herbert C. Owens
St. Charles - Herbert C. Owens, 57 of St. Charles, IL passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 after a courageous
battle with cancer. He was born December 10, 1963 in Alton, Illinois, the son of Robert L and Patricia M
(Davis) Owens. Bobby Owens, son of Herbert and Regina (Graham) Owens survives along with Herb's
grandson Lincoln Owens. On April 28, 2004 he married Kimberly (Gehlhaar) Owens.
She survives along with their son, Patrick Owens and Herb's stepson, Tommy Gehlhaar. He is survived
by his parents Robert L and Patricia M Owens; brother James F (Sarah) Owens of Brighton; sisters
Melissa (Timothy) Sykes and Claire J Pugsley of Brighton; nine nieces and nephews, twelve great nieces
and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Mae Davis and Herbert and
Janette Owens; brother Robert L Owens Jr., Uncle Charles S Davis and Herb's stepdaughter Katie A
Gehlhaar.
Herb graduated Southwestern High School; worked as a district restaurant manager; trained and
became a skilled heavy equipment operator until his retirement.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and exploring caves. He loved to laugh and make others laugh with funny
stories.
He was loved and will be missed by the entire family and friends. Cremation was by his wishes. No
visitation, private family gathering at a later date.
