Ina Lowis Obituary
Piasa, IL - Ina Mabel (Rothe) Lowis, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026, surrounded by love from her family.
Born on August 28, 1939 in Jerseyville, IL, the daughter of Frank Otto and Lillie Marie (Down) Rothe. She married William Lowis on March 31, 1963 in Jerseyville, IL at Paradise Baptist Church, where she was a lifelong member. He survives.
Ina was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, caregiver, and friend whose life was defined by kindness, patience and an unwavering love for children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Melvin Rothe, John Rothe, Charles Rothe, Robert Rothe, Frank Rothe, Wilbur Rothe, Eileen Voorhees, Evelyn Mundy, Della Freeman, twin sister Nina Darr; and great-grandchild, Zoey Zielonko.
She is survived by her husband; sister, Verna Hewitt; children, Sheila (Doug) Smith, Charles (Karen) Lowis, and Larry (Amy) Lowis; grandchildren, Michael, Amanda, Demi, Evan, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Emily, and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Shae, Kason, Sofie and Charlotte.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Anderson Family Funeral Home in Brighton, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, 10 a.m., at Paradise Baptist Church in Jerseyville, IL, with Rev. Michael Morgan.
Burial will follow at Medora Cemetery.
She will be deeply missed, but her love from her family and the children she cared for will always be remembered.
Memorials may be made to Paradise Baptist Church in Jerseyville, IL or Susan G. Komen Foundation.
