James Smith Obituary
James "Jim" A. Smith, age 52 of Bad Axe, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, June 14, 2025 after a bout with cancer.
Jim was born on June 21, 1972 in Bad Axe, son of Arthur and Mona (Brandenburg) Smith.
Jim attended Bad Axe Public Schools and Central Michigan University, He worked at Briney Tooling Systems in Bad Axe. He enjoyed hunting and ice fishing, sports and spending time with his friends. He will be greatly missed by them and his faithful dog JD.
Jim is survived by his parents, Arthur and Mona Smith of Bad Axe. He is also survived by his sister Jennifer Smith of Bad Axe, his uncle and aunt Roger and Mia Smith of Elkton, many cousins and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents Walter & Hilda Brandenburg and Arthur & Greeta Smith also his uncle & aunt Donald and Kathy Brandenburg and uncle Ronald Smith.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 11 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Bad Axe. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 2 – 7 pm at the Kaufman Funeral Home in Bad Axe or Thursday at the church from 10 am until the service time at 11 am.
Memorials may be offered to Our Savior Lutheran Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
