JON CHERRY
BENLD — Jon W. Cherry, 53, of Benld, Illinois, died in Gillespie, Illinois at his family member's residence on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018 at 3:10 p.m.
He was born Dec. 30, 1964, in Litchfield, Illinois to Wesley Charles Cherry and Mary Ann (Pickerill) Scopel. He married Christie D. (Alexander) Cherry on July 2, 1998 in Carlinville, Illinois.
He was a laborer for Local 338 of Wood River, Illinois. Jon was a member of the CFU 217 of Benld, and Ben-Gil Sports Boosters. He enjoyed bowling and fishing. He was a family man and an all-around amazing guy.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann (Bruce) Scopel of Benld; spouse, Christie Cherry of Benld; children, Joshua (Kylee) Cherry of Gillespie, Kendra Cherry of Benld; grandchildren, Dean Wesley, Vanessa Grace, Adalynn Nicole, Henley Ann, Paisley Renee, Jonah Thomas; siblings, William R. (Florence) Cherry of Gillespie, Melanie Ann (Mark) Quarton of Palmyra, Illinois; sister-in-law, Margie Cherry of Gillespie; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jon was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Donald J. Cherry.
Friends may call on Thursday, Nov. 15 at Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld from 5 until 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be Friday, Nov. 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Benld. Burial will be at Benld Cemetery, Benld.
