Lula E. Maxey
BETHALTO
Lula Edith Maxey, 96, passed away 7:50 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at Bethalto Care Center.
Born in Milburn, Ky. on May 31, 1917, she was the daughter of Mose V. and Addie M. (Dowdey) Page.
She work briefly for Owens-IL Glass before becoming a food service person for Miller Mutual Insurance Co. for 30 years.
Lula loved going to church and reading her Bible. She enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, David Maxey (his partner, Stephen Clark) of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter, Eva Ladell (Donald) Church of East Alton; granddaughter, Victoria (Fred) Monroe; three great-grandchildren, Randy Rhyne, Jr. (Becki), Ashley Romero, Aaron Rhyne; four great-great grandchildren, Samantha and Zachery Rhyne, Miguel and Kennadie Romero; nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Earl and Bill Page; five sisters, Dena Sons, Grace Booker, Ruby King, Alice Sinks and Ila Greer.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at Valhalla Memorial Cemetery in the Good Sheppard Section, in Godfrey. Rev. Fred Church will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Activity Fund at Bethalto Care Center.
Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements
