Marilyn Miceli Obituary

Marilyn Kay (Barrow) Miceli
Roswell - Marilyn Kay Miceli passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025 at her home in Roswell, GA after a courageous nine month fight against end stage renal disease.
Marilyn was born on January 23, 1944 in Alton, IL. She grew up there, graduated from Roxana High School, lived and worked primarily at Miller's Mutual in Alton and The Travelers in St. Louis, MO. In 1983 while working at The Travelers Insurance Company in St Louis, she met Joe, who was visiting the St. Louis office on a business trip. That was the beginning of a friendship that progressed and resulted in marriage in 1984. She moved with her three daughters to Cromwell, CT. Joe's work transfer at The Travelers brought them to Roswell, GA in 1990.
Her friends, family and acquaintances knew her to be a friendly, kind and generous person willing to help whenever circumstance required. Marilyn enjoyed meeting and talking to people. She was uncomfortable speaking in group settings but always said she could speak with anyone one-on-one, even the President of the United States. Marilyn loved to dance and at any event where there was music, sitting wasn't an option. On occasion she would bake her Texas sheet cake, aka Mississippi Mud cake to the delight of all who enjoyed it.
She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and games with family and friends. Marilyn was very competitive never wanting to lose or concede in a debate. Living in Georgia with family and friends in Illinois and New England meant a few short trips each year. She always packed enough outfits to last a month. She indulged in an occasional trip to Biloxi and Cherokee casinos, enjoying the games and all the surrounding areas had to offer.
She enjoyed sports and was an avid Atlanta Braves and UCONN women's and men's basketball fan. Marilyn enjoyed antique shopping, collecting various items and filled her home with many collectibles, including her favorite Snow Village collection assembled annually during the Christmas season.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gerry and Wayne Barrow; and her brothers, Larry and Michael Barrow. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; her daughters, Kimberly Boswell and her wife, Kathy Clark, Christine Boswell, Tammy Hubbard and her wife, Nancy, and David Miceli and his wife, Jenna; three grandchildren, Nora Hubbard and Gus and Margo Miceli; and her sister-in-law, Rebecca Barrow and her daughter, Madison Barrow.
A celebration of her life will be held at Ebenezer Methodist Church, 12900 Arnold Mill Rd., Roswell GA on April 26 at 11a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ebenezer Methodist Church, online at www.ebzchurch.org.

Joe, I was sad to hear of the passing of your wife, Marilyn.
It is strange that you have been in my thoughts lately and only last week I put your address in my phone book. I´ve been thinking of both of you with a feeling of wanting to know what you´re doing.
I offer my sympathy to you and your family and will pray for you though this difficult time.
