To my husband of 26 years...you blessed us with your love and generosity. We raised such outstanding children who were given every educational opportunity to become the adults they are today. I am proud enough for both of us as I watch them carry on with strength, joy, and grace. I am sorry you missed experiencing them as adults with their own families. We honor the best times we all shared as The Fun Family. Aloha nui loa, Holly

"You can take the boy out of Fall River but you can't take Fall River out of the boy!"

Michael always returned to see old friends and family. Our visits to his "vacation" home and dinner at The Venus DeMilo were always on the agenda when he returned "home".
The O'Riordans have "NEVER" forgotten their Fall River connection.
We all remember the good times our families shared and hold those memories close to our heart.
Although you were gone from Fall River for many years we could always count on "your smile" to show up on Maple St. at some point during your visit back.
We will treasure all the happy memories of you Michael and will miss you forever.
Our sympathy to all of you.....
With Love,Nancy, Brad and Corkey Curtis

We only met Michael briefly when we visited San Diego, but he so wanted to help us on our trip to the US. He was a generous, kind man who will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew him. Our sincere condolences to the whole O'Riordan Clan. He was taken too soon, but be assured he is in Heaven.
Love to you all from David and Ed Johnston and the girls. We are thinking of you all at this sad time.

With my brother, Michael in Bray, Ireland

April 25, 2014

I was not able to attend and wrote one of the Eulogies which was read by my brother, Brian.

Dearest Family I am sorry I am not able to be with you during this saddest of times, but family medical issues require I stay with my wife and children. Know that wherever you are we are always together for I
hold each of you dear in my heart.

Friends, thank you for your loving support for our family as we lay another of our brothers to rest. It is a difficult task though part of life that we all experience and endure.

As Joseph Campbell says:

“Participate joyfully in the sorrows of the world. We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy.'

Even at the worst of times we must enthusiastically participate, how else could we know we were alive?

Michael and I were at odds as often as we weren't. It was the nature of our relationship throughout our lives, the one constant he and I could rely on was our inconsistency. As the Turks say ‘Shurla Burla',
which means ‘like this, like that'. You never know what is going to happen.

The Michael I choose to remember is the brash young man who went to Killington, Vermont to become a ski instructor. The one they called ‘Flash'. I know…. But it was the 70s.

My Father did not approve of the idea and felt Michael should go straight to college. If you knew Michael, telling him to do anything would just garner the opposite reaction.

So, off to Vermont it was. I remember my father telling me the story of when he first visited Michael in Killington. Michael was a Ski instructor and Dad went up for a weekend visit from Fall River. Dad and
Michael were getting onto the chairlift, the lift operator smoothly guided the chair and up they went to the top of Killington.

Michael said, ‘See that lift operator?'

Dad replied, ‘Yeah.'

‘College Graduate…..I make triple what he does.' The college argument had been put to rest.

The Michael I choose to remember was the one who arrived in San Diego where much of my Mother's side of the family emigrated to from Scotland after World War II. He then met Holly, I'll admit as a 10
year old I kind of had a crush on her, and they married.

They had two beautiful children, Andrew and Katelyn. While I am biased as Uncle, many of you who know my niece and nephew realize that they are two of the finest people you are ever likely to meet and my heart breaks for them as they lay their father to rest.

The Michael I choose to remember, was the soccer coach. He was the T-ball coach. Their house was always teaming with friends and their children. He was taking his family to the beach, the mountain,
Hawaii, Ireland and places beyond. He gave his children the best gift a Father could. He gave them himself. Speaking as a Father, what more could we give our children?

Dearest Katelyn and Andrew. The English language doesn't contain adequate words for me to express my sorrow for your loss. You both have been through so much and for this to be the culmination is not
how life is supposed to be, but sadly life is rarely how it is supposed to be. Know this; I love you beyond measure, you will always have safe harbor when needed, and in any fight I will gladly stand before you
as protector.

Holly, know that I see you as sister and will always stand with your children when they need me I will always be here for them, of that you can be assured.

Mom…. Dearest.
My heart is shattered into a thousand pieces for you. To have your beloved Stephen and Michael pass before you is such a cruel twist of fate. I know of very few people with the strength you have. I am
honored to be your son and so very sorry to see and know how much you have suffered.

Your family is here, and we love you. We will stop at nothing to support and protect you.

I would like to close with an Irish blessing for my brother Michael Robert O'Riordan

Michael,
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Michael was a very generous and thoughtful man. When I think back, I don't recall a time when he didn't have a smile of his face. I enjoyed our evenings smoking cigars and telling jokes. He was full of life and wanted to learn to fly helicopters. I remember checking out his property on the Big island as he wanted to buy a helicopter and fly it from Honolulu to the house he wanted to build on Hawaii. He directed me to his favorite people at the Fairmont Orchid. They all knew and loved him, so they treated me like a king since I was his friend. I feel blessed to have known him. He was taken far too soon. God bless you Michael and your family.

We were all blessed to have Michael be a part of our family. Everyone describes Michael as kind and gentle, that is exactly how I will always think of him as well, he was the personification of a true gentleman from the old school. He reminded me of Errol Flynn,
the movie star of the silver screen, suave and debonaire. Michael had an aura of peace and gentleness and class. He will always be remembered fondly. My love to you Anita, Katelyn and Andrew and the rest of the O'Riordans as you grieve your great loss. Love, Sylvia Thomson

Michael was my friend in San Diego since 1997. He will be missed and it's tragic that he is gone so soon. A few memories: a. Michael was always dressed to the nines. Custom made shirts, monogram on his cuffs, a collection of cuff links....he was among the best dressed. Michael loved a good cheeseburger and we were on a constant search to find the best one. Michael and I loved the chicken-fried steak at Red Tractons. We would meet on Wednesday at lunch and I remember the day we showed up and they had taken it off the menu!!! He also loved their liver and onions but I had to let him go solo on that one. May he rest in peace.

My thoughts and heart are with all of you. The O'Riordan family has been very important to me for 40+ years. Your hurt is my hurt. Love - Meg
