MIMMA PIZZO
BETHALTO — Mimma G. Pizzo, 85, passed away at 2:55 am on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at her residence, with her family by her side.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1932 in Cinisi, Sicily, Italy, the daughter of the late Antonia Lentini. She married Angelo Pizzo on June 21, 1958 in Sicily, Italy. He preceded her in death on May 22, 2004.
Mimma was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto. She enjoyed working, she was the owner/operator, along side her husband of Roma's Pizza. She also enjoyed knitting and lace making.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, and one daughter and son-in-law, Sebastiano "Frank" and Josephine (Vitale) Pizzo of Moro, Caterina "Cathy" (Pizzo) and Vincenzo "Vince" Cavataio of Staunton, Salvatore "Sam" and Kimberly (Stull) Pizzo of O'Fallon, MO, and Antonio "Tony" and Josephine (Vitale) Pizzo of Bethatlo, 15 grandchildren; Mimma, Rosa and Angelo, Vincenzo Pizzo, Elisa, Laura, Antonino and Angela Cavataio, Maria, Anna and Sal Pizzo; Angelo, Lin, Julian and Alexia Pizzo; and six brothers, Salvatore, Vincenzo, Onorato, Leonardo, Nazareno and Benedetto Vitale.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018 at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto with Father Tom Liebler officiating.
Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's orphanage in Messina, Sicily, Italy.
