ROCHESTER, NEW YORK - Nancy Hope (Graves) Copley, 88, passed away on February 29, 2016, in Rochester, New York, at the home of her son, Joel and Elizabeth Bostock.
She was born in Dexter, Maine, on June 9, 1927, to the Reverend Lawrence and Phebe (Jewett) Graves. She married Robert L. Copley in the Benjamin Godfrey Chapel on October 7, 1948, in a ceremony officiated by her father.
Nancy is survived by her children, Susan (David) Grothaus of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Chris (Ginny) of Grafton, Tim (Mary Lou) of St. Louis, Jeff (Sheila) of Pana, Illinois, Joel of Rochester, New York, and David of Alton; a daughter-in-law, Janet of St. Louis; sisters, Sally (Bill) McCoy of Rochester, New York and Joanna Kaufmann of Pittsford, New York; sisters-in-law, Dee Copley of Godfrey, and Bruni Graves of Houston, Texas; brothers-in-law, Tom Copley of Houston, Texas and Chester (Nita) Copley of Muskegon, Michigan; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; a son, John; a granddaughter, Olivia Copley; two brothers, Larry and Jewett Graves; and a brother-in-law, Bill Copley.
Nancy attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and graduated from the Lewis & Clark Community College Nursing program. She taught at St. Ambrose school and was a nurse at Alton Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the Godfrey Congregational Church.
