Norma Jean Hester
BETHALTO
Norma Jean (Bold) Hester, 83, passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Born July 20, 1930, in Alton, she was a daughter of Amos and Earline (Lacy) Ervin.
She worked for many years at Olin Corp. as a lab technician.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Dick and Susan Bold, Doug and Reta Bold, Dave and Kathy Bold, JoAnn and Jack Dippold, Darla Kay and Mark Knopf, Dan and Leonida Bold, Dallas and Lori Bold, and Darla Ann and Don Boyer; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a dear sister-in-law, Virginia Ervin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mel Hester, who passed away just three days before her. She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Malcolm, Homer and Lacy Ervin; and a sister, Helen Watts.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13. The Rev. Dan Smith will officiate.
Norma will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A special thanks to Bethalto Care Center for the loving care and kindness they provided.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of one's choice.
