PHYLLIS MORRIS

SOUTH ROXANA — Phyllis A. Morris, 84, passed away 9:08 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1, 2018 at her residence.

Born on May 14, 1934 in West Frankfort, she was the daughter of William and Pauline (Gamblin) Lannom.

She had been a cook at Wood River Hospital before retiring.

She married Arthur McIntosh then later married Elmus E. Morris. Both preceded her in death.

Surviving are daughters, Betty Ott of South Roxana, Linda Ferguson of East Alton; step-sons, Larry and Joe Morris both of Colorado; step-daughters, Rosemary Walker of Wood River and Karen Sarnzare in Nevada; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Her parents; husbands; daughters, Teresa Conner Carla Jean McIntosh; brothers, Paul Jimmy and William Eugene Lannom; and sisters, Delores Link and Betty LaBott preceded in death.

A Memorial service will be held in the Chapel at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6. Burial will follow.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Marks Mortuary in Wood River is in charge of arrangements.

Cannot believe it has been 5 years coming up that you wa)ked through heaven doors. I miss you so much and so much has happened. I have lost Don but I know he is with you in heaven and you both are now pain free and healthy.I am keeping up with everything you wanted me to do love you and miss you so much.

Hey mom I miss you so much. I amtryi g to do what you would want but it is so hard. Don is headed your way I am a mess. I have always had you to help me with my problems but I don't any more. Monica and Tom are trying to help but they have a lot on their plate.I just feel so alone now without you and Don. I know I am not alone but it hurts so much. Please give everyone a hug from me and you are all missed and loved so much.

Grandma,
Don and Larry left us this past month to be reunited with you and the rest of the family. Mom, is lost without you and now, Don. I wish I knew how to help. I know you would want us to take care of her and each other. I am doing my best. It's not easy and I totally understand your frustration with us sometimes. You are still missed like it was yesterday. Today, you left us 4 years ago. I am so happy you are at peace. I am sad for us because we can't see your smile or hear your voice. However, we will all be together again one day. Please Gram, give Don a hug and tell him. We love and miss him so much. Also, I flubbed up the joke about the gummy bear. I'm sure he will get a laugh. Love you all so so much.

I can hardly believe it is coming up on 3 years since you left Earth and our arms. It seems like it has been forever since we seen or talked to you. Though it feels like you were just here. Offering advice and keeping us in line. I find comfort you're no longer in pain. I know you check in some times because I can feel your presence. I wish Heaven had visiting hours. There has been so much confusion. You would always listen and make things better with your wisdom. Now I just feel lost. Please give a pet to Simon's head and hug to the family. Mom 3 years have passed without you. It has been so hard not having you hear to talk to and help with our decision makings. You never told us how to go on without you.I know you are watching over us and happy you are pain free but my heart still hurts I love you and miss you so much.

It's been 2 years and we miss you just as much as the night you left us and went to be with our Lord. The past 2 years has been non-stop crazy. We are not the same family without you. The world has changed so much. You wouldn't recognize it. You would be so unhappy with the hate and illness. The fact you are in heaven is one thing I'm thankful. You would hate wearing the mask. About as much as we hate not seeing you or hearing your voice. Please Grandma, continue to watch over us and lead us back to where we should be. Love you and miss you everyday.

I have a lot of memories of Phyllis from working with her at Wood River hospital. She was a very sweet lady and enjoyed working with her. Loss touch after moving away and regret not trying to find her when I moved back to Wood River. My wish for the family is that the happy memories will help you through the sad times.
