Robert Alverson Obituary
ROBERT ALVERSON SR.
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. — Robert R. Alverson Sr., 81, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma born, Feb. 1, 1936, went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 31, 2018.
Robert was a retired career United States Army Veteran with 20 years of service. He served our country from 1954 until 1974. He continued working in the private sector after retiring until 1995. He married Sherry E (nee McAfee) on December 23, 1957 and she preceded him in death on Jan. 29, 1996. Together they raised 3 children; Teresa (David) Lew, of Irvine, CA, Elaine (James) Rhodes, of Gofrey, Illinois, and Robert R. Alverson Jr who preceded him in death. He also leaves behind a sister Joan Thomson, of Detroit, Michigan, his grandchildren; Alayne (Ethan) Waters, Melody (Alan) Schulze, Bill (Melissa) Alverson, James (Lauren) Alverson, Aubree (Brian) Dorsey, Brandon Lew and great-grandchildren; Gregory Green, Audrey Waters, Alyssa Waters, Elijah Schulze, Abram Schulze, Eleanor Schulze, Oliver Alverson, Ozzy Alverson, Otto Alverson and Isaac Alverson.
He married Louise Wright, on Nov. 28, 1998 and she survives. They resided together in Oklahoma City until he fell ill in 2017 and moved to the Norman Veterans Center in Oklahoma. Together Robert and Louise enjoyed traveling in their motor home and spending time with family and friends. Her children; Brenda (Delbert) Liekhus and Chris (Cami) Wright, grandchildren; Mike (Ciara) Liekhus, Justin (Kendra) Liekhus, Brandon (Rebecca) Wright and Brittany (Ryan) Leath and great grandchildren; Ashlyn Wright, Jalen Liekhus, Kara Liekhus, Adelyn Wright, and Chole Liekhus.

Robert will be buried in a private ceremony with family at Valhalla Memorial Park, Godfrey, Illinois, with full Military Honors and Illinois Patriot Guard Escorts on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018. Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois officiating services.
