William "Bill" Joseph Collman
Bethalto - Bethalto, Illinois - William "Bill" Joseph Collman, 80, of Bethalto, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
He was born on March 29, 1945, in Alton, the son of William H. and Josephine (Retzer) Collman. Bill married Pamela "Pam" Sutter in Lindenwood, Ill., on May 31, 1976, they were just shy of celebrating their 50th golden anniversary. She survives.
Bill is a United States Army Veteran, having served in Germany from 1965-1967. He was an Industrial Technology Teacher at Edwardsville High School for 35 years, retiring in 2005. Coaching wrestling and track was a passion of his. Bill was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Bethalto. Most of all, he cherished his time spent with his family, especially his grandkids.
Along with his wife, Pam, he is survived by his children, Natalie (Darren) Nash, Ellen Collman, Maggie Collman, Molly (Carson) Bailey, and Antje (Nathaniel Fakler) Collman; a sister, Willene Hughes; seven grandchildren, Owen, Caroline, Lily, Jaclyn, Bailey, Scarlett, and Collman; a special niece, Libby Eshoo; and a special nephew, Larry Hughes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant grandson, Jacob Pullen.
Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded by Elias, Kallal and Schaaf, and inurnment will take place at a later date near his birthday, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
Memorials are suggested to the Edwardsville Athletic Association and/or a charity of one's choice.
