William C. 'Bill' Hardin III
ALTON
William C. "Bill" Hardin III, 76, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 4, 1937, in Alton the son of the late W. Clark Hardin II and Bernadine L. (Lister) Hardin. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Godfrey. Bill attained his pilot's license at the age of 16. He owned and operated Bill's Hobby Shop from 1953-1980. After closing the hobby shop he sold cars and insurance for a few years. Most recently he worked for eight years at Lambert International Airport as a TSA agent. He married Donna M. Browning on Feb. 10, 1962, in Alton and she survives.
Also surviving are five children; William C. "Buddy" Hardin IV (Barbara) of St. Charles, Mo., Dana B. Hardin M.D. (Julie) of Ivins, Utah, Ian Thomas Hardin, J.D. of Alton, Melissa Pruitt (Mark) of Godfrey and Derek Wilson Hardin of Alton; 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Grant.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at Gent Funeral Home in Alton. Funeral services will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 6500 Humbert Road, and Godfrey with Bishop Dave Hargiss officiating. Burial: Rose Lawn Memory Garden in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Missionary Fund for his grandson, Yuri.

So sorry for your loss. Wish I would have known I would have been to the viewing. I worked with Bill with the TSA for all 8 of his years. I've put his obit on Facebook so they can see. He will be missed.
