WILLIAM SCHWINN
BETHALTO — William "Bill" Schwinn, Jr., 76, passed away, on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at his home in Bunker Hill.
He was born Dec. 28, 1940, in East St. Louis, the son of William John and Florence (Bertlesman) Schwinn, Sr.
He married Diane Tucker on Oct. 21, 1961, in St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in Fairview Heights. She survives.
Bill enjoyed working for Sealers in St. Louis, as a maintenance supervisor. Outside of work, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two children, Keith Schwinn and Iva Walsh of Caseyville, Marcy and Donald Basden of Collinsville; five grandchildren, Joshua Schwinn, Kyle Basden, Chad Basden, Cassandra Schwinn, Amanda Schwinn; five great-grandchildren, Camden, Nova, Alaina, Sophia, Victoria; two siblings, Ronnie and Carol Schwinn of Maryville, Tina and Howard Schwinn-Bodkins of Troy, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Bethalto with Rev. Tom Liebler officiating.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Memorials may be made to masses for the deceased.
Elias, Kallal, and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto is in charge of arrangements.
