Bunker Hill - William E. "Bill" Vaughn, 89, of Bunker Hill, IL, died at his residence on Saturday, December 20, 2025. He was born November 10, 1936, in Bunker Hill, IL to Charles Vaughn & Ethel Shutts Vaughn. He married Mary Lucile (Hess) Vaughn on September 26, 1964 in Bunker Hill, IL. Mary preceded him in death on February 14, 2014. Bill was a retired after having worked for the Bunker Hill Post Office for 30 years where 21 years
he served as the postmaster. He also farmed for 12 years. Bill was a 7 year member of the US Army Reserves. He was a member of the Fosterburg Baptist Church. He was active in church ministry working with music and the youth throughout his adult life. He is survived by his children, Carol (Craig) Franklin of Bunker Hill, IL, Judy (Rodney) Thompson of Brighton, IL, Mark (Jennifer) Vaughn of Bunker Hill, IL; grandchildren, Megan (Wesley) Edwards, Eric (Jessica) Franklin, Philip Franklin, Matthew (Emma) Franklin, Brian (Emily) Thompson, Steven (Megan) Thompson, Allen Thompson, Aaron (fiancée, AmyDee Bachman), Nathan (Faith)
Thompson, Michael (Cheyenne) Vaughn, Katherine Vaughn, Jeffrey Vaughn, Timothy Vaughn, Kristen Vaughn; seven great grandchildren with the 8th great grandchild expected in the spring; brother in law, George (Marcia) Hess; and sister in law, Jane (Douglas) Lightly. William was preceded in death by his parents, spouse, two brothers and two sisters. Friends may call on Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Fosterburg Baptist Church from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services are Monday, December 29, 2025 at 10 a.m. at the Fosterburg Baptist Church. Burial will be at Bunker Hill Cemetery, Bunker Hill, IL.
