Wlater Nulty Obituary
Bethalto - Walter L Nulty Jr., 93, of Bethalto and longtime resident of Rosewood Heights passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024 at his home. He was born December 6, 1931 in Metropolis, IL to Walter L. Nulty Sr and Capitola (Jones) Nulty.
He married JoAnn Bethel December 22, 1956 in Ozark, IL. Walter was retired from Washington University School of Medicine, where he worked as a bio-chemist. He was a handy man and enjoyed fixing things himself and solving problems. He had a great love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing and walking through the woods. His ideal day could be described as a walk in the woods with JoAnn, perhaps looking for mushrooms. Spending time on the River Road and in Grafton gave him great enjoyment but nothing was greater than the love he had for his family and the time he spent with them.
He is survived by a son, Greg (Chris) Nulty of Washington, IL; daughters, Pam (Joe) Hawkins of High Ridge, MO and Angie (John) Becker of Alton, IL; six grandchildren, Karissa Soltys, Daniel Nulty, Rebekah Kleinsmith, Alayna Nulty, Walter Becker and Johnny Becker; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife of 66 years, JoAnn Nulty; and his sister, Rosalie Greengo.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of procession to the graveside at 1 p.m., Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights. Graveside services will be held at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto. Online guestbook available at www.paynicfh.com. In lieu of flowers memorials can be to the American Cancer Society.
