Alan E. Yearing, 66, of Scranton, passed away unexpectedly Friday afternoon at home.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of Helen Gilroy Yearing and the late Edmund Yearing. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and prior to retirement, he worked as a supply technician in the Defense Logistics Agency at Tobyhanna Army Depot.
Alan was an avid gardener and a Dallas Cowboys fan. He had a love for animals especially his cat, Digit, and dog, Shiek. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Surviving are sisters, Carol Snyder and husband, Walt, Archbald, and Michele Schoen and husband, Terry, Southampton; brothers, David Yearing, Scranton, Paul Yearing and wife, Loretta, Dunmore, and Edmund Yearing and wife, Donna, Scranton; aunt Dorothy Lenhart, Elmhurst; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home, Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clare's Church, 2251 N. Washington Ave., Scranton.
Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
Family and friends may pay their respects Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
