Amelia Santaniello Obituary

Amelia Eramo Santaniello of Scranton died Saturday afternoon in Mountain View Care Center. Her husband, Michael E. Santaniello, died Oct. 29, 1997.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Antonio and Madeline Malizia Eramo, she was educated in Scranton schools and was a 1937 graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Before retirement, she was employed at the Globe Store and Woolworth's. As a young girl she worked in the family grocery store on Meridian Street in the Bellvue section of Scranton. She was a member of St. Lucy's Church, Scranton.

She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. Amelia was very proud of her Catholic faith and her Italian heritage. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Amelia's family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the nursing staff of the Camelot Wing of Mountain View Care Center of Scranton for their loving and attentive care given to their mom.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph and wife, Sumiko, Madisonville; and Anthony and wife, Trudy, Moscow; two daughters, Madeline Santaniello, Dunmore; and Michele Bonifanti and husband, George, Hummelstown; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel, Frank and Sam.

The funeral will be Wednesday from the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church, 949 Scranton St., Scranton. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.

Friends may call Tuesday 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509 or St. Lucy's Church.
