Andrew Kolibob Obituary

Andrew Joseph Kolibob, Dupont, died Thursday at Commonwealth Hospice, Scranton. His wife, the former Veronica Romanko, died in June 2011.

He was born in Dunmore and was the son of the late Andrew and Veronica Tomko Kolibob. A graduate of Dunmore High School, he also attended the University of Scranton and had worked as a revenue auditor for the state until retirement. He had served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Walter X. Young. He enjoyed attending reunions with his fellow veterans.

Surviving are a daughter, Maria Smith, Wyoming; a granddaughter, Keely Smith, Wyoming; a grandson, Landon; a sister, Mary Biskausskas, Schenectady, N.Y.; nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, John, Robert and Albert; and six sisters, Helen Kasavage, Josephine and Verna Kolibob, Ann Barnick, Margaret Gebing and Madlyn Aebli.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, Luzerne Avenue, West Pittston. Interment, All Saints Cemetery, Hollisterville, at a later date.

Arrangements by Jacob Davis Funeral Home, 422 S. Main St., Taylor.
