Barbara Steinle Obituary

Barbara A. Steinle, 87, of Scranton, died Wednesday at Holy Family Residence. She was the widow of James D. Steinle Sr., who died May 13, 2013.

Born Jan. 13, 1931, in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Eleanor (Mitchell) Teets. Before her retirement, Barbara was employed by Marywood University as an administrative assistant and also at Holy Family Residence. Barbara was a 75-year member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, including her time at the Green Ridge Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the women's association of the church, worked with the kitchen committee and served in the church choir for many years.

Barbara was an avid reader and enjoyed her backyard garden, especially her wildflowers and lilacs. She loved spending winters at her son's house in Florida and loved to travel. She was committed to her loving family and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Pamela J. Huddy and companion, Joseph Coleman; Jill A. Lalli and husband, Vito, Dunmore; her son, James D. Steinle Jr., of Clearwater, Fla.; and Valerie L. Lalli and husband, Domnick, of Elmhurst Twp.; four grandchildren, Kimberly Huddy, Frank Huddy, Jason Cortese and Jessica Cortese; and nieces, and nephews.

Barbara was also preceded in death by her sister, Carole Simons.

The family would like to thank Little Sisters of the Poor and all who are employed at Holy Family Residence who took such wonderful care of our mother.

A memorial service will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Covenant Presbyterian Church, 550 Madison Ave., Scranton.

Friends will be received in the sanctuary of the church Monday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 550 Madison Ave., Scranton, PA 18510.
