Beverly Kura

Beverly Kura, 68, of Dunmore, died Wednesday in the peaceful embrace of family at Regional Hospital.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Ann and Walter Young. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School, 1973, and Marywood College, 1977. Following school, she became a Social Worker, a career reflecting her unending generosity and dedication to serving others.

Her love for her husband, John, was complete and unmatched except by his love of her. She is and always will be the love of his life, forever.

Their love bonded them in marriage for 43 years, during which they raised three children. She viewed her family as her greatest, proudest achievement.

She was loved for her quick wit, deep wisdom, and inimitable cooking skills. Her home cooked meals were a centerpiece of every family gathering, and reminisced over nearly as much as the time spent talking with her.

Her kind spirit made her a valued friend, always willing to listen, support, and share. Among many interests, she loved genealogy, music, and the moon in a clear night sky.

Surviving are three children, Jessica Canjar and husband, John, Peckville; Christina Kura, Dunmore; and John Kura III and wife, Janessa, Jermyn; grandchildren, Jaedyn Kura, Julia Canjar, and Johnny Canjar; sister-in-law, Ann Marie Kura Gifford; brother-in-law, Richard Kura; a niece, Dana Billets; and nephew, Kyle Gifford.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Diane Young Billets; mother and father-in-law, Helen and John Kura; and brother-in-law, Robert Kura.

The funeral will be held Tuesday from the James M. Margotta Funeral Home, 1019 Main St., Peckville, with Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.
