Bruno J. Bonacci, Scott Twp., Pa., passed away on Friday, Jan. 14, at his home with his devoted daughter Gina at his side.
Born in Carbondale to the late Joseph and Palma Fotia Bonacci, he was a graduate of Ben Franklin High School, an undergraduate of East Stroudsburg University and completed his graduate work at Millersville University with time spent studying abroad in Mexico.
In his earlier years, Bruno was employed with Lakeland High School where he was a Spanish teacher. It was an exciting time, and he influenced and enlightened many of his students leading to a book dedication to Bruno, by one of his former students, who pursued a successful career in the foreign languages and wanted to honor Bruno for his inspiration.
While teaching, Bruno read an ad in the local paper recruiting wealth managers for IDS. His love for teaching and helping people, coupled with the ability to pursue his interest in finance led him to become a Certified Financial Planner, where he built a successful wealth management practice for his remaining professional career.
His success and love for his clients was demonstrated by his strong client following and his achievement of countless awards; including but not limited to, being recognized as a top-ranking adviser in the country, shortly after his career started and the prestigious and honored IDS-Ameriprise lifetime nomination into the "Hall of Fame." Bruno, after building his practice from the ground up, continued to successfully practice for 40 years at the Bonacci Complex, Dundaff Street, Carbondale, before retiring.
He was a dedicated father who loved traveling around the country with his children and attending University of Pittsburgh football games. The biggest college football fan one can find!
He is survived by his caring son, Joseph and his fiancée, Jacqueline Prine, California; his loving daughters, Jaime Bonacci, Simpson; and Gina Bonacci Carey and dedicated son-in-law, Kevin, Jermyn. His eyes lit up for his only grandchild, Lainey Paige; his sister, Frances Mase, Carbondale; and nieces, Joya; and Paula and husband, Paul. Together the family experienced all the joys for a lifetime and will forever have heartfelt memories.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will hold a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Mount Carmel, Carbondale, at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bruno's favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, where he faithfully donated.
At a later date, his family will host a proper celebration of Bruno's life. Arrangements entrusted to Louis J. Rapoch Funeral Home, Archbald. To leave condolences to the family, visit the funeral home's webpage.
The family would like to thank the caregivers who dedicated so many hours to the impeccable care of Bruno in the past year. The love and warmth they brought to him in this world is immeasurable and the family will be forever grateful.
