Dominick A. Schank Jr., 93, known as Tony or Junior, a Scranton native and resident of Bethlehem, Pa., for many years, died Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital-Fountain Hill Campus. Born June 16, 1927, in Scranton, he was the son of the late Margaret (Noto) and Dominick A. Schank Sr. He was married to Anna L. (Kozak) Schank, also a Scranton native, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage this past April 21.
A graduate of Scranton Technical High School and Johnson School of Technology, Dominick served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He worked for Western Electric, retiring after 40 years. He visited his local relatives several times a year. He loved his Italian heritage and attended La Festa Italiana in Scranton every year. He enjoyed gardening and watching the Phillies, Eagles and golf. A member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Bethlehem, Dominick was a very generous man who will be missed by all those that knew and loved him.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Anna; sons, Andrew Schank and wife, Rita; and David Schank; daughter, JoAnne Vance and companion, Vince Lang; grandson, Kyle Schank; sisters, Grace Goodwin, Marie Scaringi and Frani Shannon; and brother-in-law, David Shannon; sister-in-law, Dale Schank, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Rose Peters and Irene Schank; and brothers, Fred and Albert Schank.
A viewing will be held on Monday, June 14, 2021, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 1861 Catasauqua Road, Bethlehem, PA 18018 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Arrangements Connell Funeral Home.
