Earl Lewan, 91, of Peckville, died Tuesday at Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ofcharsky Lewan, Peckville. The couple was married for 68 years.
Born in Throop, he was the son of the late Paul and Emma Zander Lewan. Earl served his country in the United States Air Force. He was self-employed, owning his own janitorial service.
He was a kind and loving husband, father, grand and great-grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.
The family would also like to thank and acknowledge his nurses Abra, Judy and Allysa for the superior care and compassion they provided during his last days.
Also surviving are his children, Earl Jr. and wife, Diane, Lake Ariel; Cynthia Kausmeyer and husband, Gary, Peckville; and Deborah Busteed and husband, Kevin, Peckville; his grandchildren, Amy Pusateri, Kristin Lewan, Gary Kausmeyer Jr., Susan Ann Garrity, Laurie and Kevin; five great-grandchildren, Nora, Rocco, Gavin, Mateo and Vivienne; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul; and sister, Heddy.
The funeral will be Saturday at 12:30 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Cross Parish, Olyphant. Interment will follow at Dunmore Cemetery.
Viewing hours will be private. Friends are asked to go directly to church.
