Born in Taylor, July of 1927, she was predeceased by her parents, William F. Callahan and Edna Mae Callahan, along with a brother, John; an infant brother, William; and brother, Leo. Edith was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, William M. King Jr.

Edith is survived by her son, William M. King III and his wife, Pamela; and grandchildren, Katherine King and William M. King IV. Edith is also survived by her sisters, Jean Boyd, Sarah Farrell and Ruth Skopyak; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Shirley Callahan; and Walter and Patricia Callahan; brother-in-law, James King; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a communicant of Holy Innocents Parish in Neptune City, N.J.

After graduating from Taylor High School, she became a certified beautician from Miss Fenwick's School of Beauty and began working for Mary McAndrew's Beauty Shop in Scranton. Following her marriage, Edith worked for the T. B. League in New Brunswick, N.J., the parish office at Our Lady of the Valley, in Wayne, N.J., and St. Peter's General Hospital in New Brunswick. She retired from St. Peter's where she had positions with the School of Nursing, the Laboratory and Employee Health Services for over 20 years. After moving to the Jersey Shore, she was employed by Shop-Rite in Neptune.

As Bill was transferred to different Union Carbide plants, Edith made sure that the family transition to a new home was smooth. Bill and Edith had homes in Highland Park, N.J., Bound Brook, N.J., Wayne, Somerset, N.J., as well as in Ottawa, Ill. In 1994, they moved to Neptune to be closer to their family.

Edith enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's school, church and sporting events. Bill and Edith had a devotion to The Blessed Mother and shared the Rosary and Novena especially at St. Ann's Monastery Basilica in West Scranton. Bill and Edith were at as many of their son's golf tournaments as possible. Edith even served as a golf coach on a few occasions at St. Peters High school in 1973 where she was undefeated.

Edith was always known for her homemade bread and other baked goodies. Her famous Welsh cookies were sent to her family members serving in our United States Armed Forces in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Middle East. She lived her faith and will be remembered as a woman who put her family first and will be cherished as a blessing we shared as a caring daughter and sister, loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma, aunt and friend.
