Edward Griglock Obituary

Edward Charles Griglock, 36, of Moosic, died Friday at his parents' home after a courageous battle with cancer. His wife of two years is the former Dawn Arcuri, West Scranton.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of Edward Griglock and Valerie Marriggi Griglock. He was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, where he served as president of the Honor Society. He continued his education, earning a post-graduate degree from Temple University School of Pharmacy, where he also served as president of the Kappa Psi Beta Omega Pharmacy Chapter. He was a pharmacist at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton, where he met the love of his life, Dawn, who soon became his wife. The couple are the very proud parents of a baby girl, Emma Rose, 6 months.

He was a historian of the Civil War, and loved the Beatles. An accomplished musician, his collection of guitars was only outnumbered by Gettysburg artifacts. He was an insatiable reader, and had a lifelong passion for the Boston Red Sox, Notre Dame football, his family dogs and the music group Kiss. He never did anything halfway. He was all-in. His greatest times in life were when he was surrounded by family, especially holidays at Auntie's house. Family meant everything to him. He was a man of great faith. His earliest days found him serving as an altar boy at his family's parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Pittston. The family has remained devoted to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and would like to thank the Rev. Paul McDonnell, Monsignor David Tressler, the Rev. Thomas Muldowney and the Rev. Joe Sibilano for a lifetime of spiritual care.

The family would like to express deepest gratitude to Dr. James Sheerer, Dr. Kenneth Gentilezza, the staff at Moses Taylor Hospital and Allied Rehabilitation at Moses Taylor Hospital. And a special thanks to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

Also surviving are a sister, Jennifer Griglock Haggerty; brother-in-law, Kevin Haggerty; and godson, Kevin Haggerty, Dunmore; godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Trottini, Exeter; godson, Robbie Trottini, West Wyoming; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Marriggi, Pittston; and paternal grandfather, Edward Griglock, Pittston; in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Arcuri, Clarks Summit; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Arcuri; and nephews, Joseph and Richard Jr., Scranton; brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Arcuri, Tallahassee, Fla.; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother, Mary Griglock.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 237 William St., Pittston.

Friends may call Wednesday and Thursday from 5 to 8 at the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home, 509 Wyoming Ave., West Pittston.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Edward Griglock Memorial Fund at Fidelity Bank, 338 N. Washington Ave., #101, Scranton, PA 18503, for a scholarship toward the education of daughter, Emma.

Eddie was like a son to us and lived with us for a period of time after graduation from College. We enjoyed his sense of humor and his pleasant demeanor. We debated about Yankees vs Red Sox and both loved our Fighting Irish, Chiefs and obscure shows on TRU TV! We enjoyed competing in the batting cages, and I particularly enjoyed hearing about his exploits with his friends. He was such .... A GOOD PERSON. I truly miss our late night texts and our constant laughter about just about anything. He grew into a wonderful husband, father and business professional which made us so proud. He enjoyed joking with his Aunt Marilyn and his job. We miss him, we really do.

I am shocked and my heart saddened by the news of Ed's passing. We attended the same pharmacy school and worked together at Merck Medco. He was a wonderful friend who always had everyone laughing. We shared so many great memories and he was a supportive friend during my difficult times over the last couple years. He truly was one-of-a kind and I will miss him dearly. Even towards the end, when you and Emma entered a room, he lit up...so beautiful to see!

Dawn, Emma, and Ed's Parents and family,
I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss. I have many fond memories as a coworker and friend at Eckerd Pharmacy in Camp Hill. Ed always could make you smile through a joke or with his musical talents. I remember being at a very elegant party one time, and he sang a duet "Beth" by Kiss and I played the melody on a grand piano. We went to many open mic nights to see Ed play and sing and enjoyed good times together in Harrisburg. Please find comfort in your memories and know that he will not be forgotten.

I first met Eddie when he was probably in kindergarten with my brother Tim. I feel like I watched him grow up through Jenkins Twp. Little League, Pittston Area and Temple into a successful family man. Later, I kept track of his successes through my updates from his cousin Rob Trottini. I never heard him utter a negative word and he always had a smile on his face. My condolences to his entire family and especially his wife and daughter. The music in heaven has just gotten more interesting.
