Edward Joseph Walkowski, 93, passed away peacefully in Scranton, Pa., Sept. 9, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Lorraine Walkowski; and son, Craig Walkowski.
He is survived by his son, Dr. Edward Walkowski Jr., (Stephanie), North Abington Twp., Pa.; grandchildren, Dr. Brian Walkowski, Indiana, Pa.; Heather Coombs (Brian), Conshohocken, Pa.; Michael Walkowski, Old Bridge, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Tyler Coombs, Conshoshocken, Pa.; nieces and a nephew.
Born and raised in Wharton, New Jersey, Ed was a 40-year foreman for New Jersey Power and Light Company. He was a hunter and fisherman and enjoyed trips to Alaska to fish with his sons and grandson. He also enjoyed ice fishing and spent many winters fishing Lake Hopatcong. He was a passionate gardener and produced bushels of produce year after year which he shared with family, friends and neighbors. Ed enjoyed videotaping events, especially his yearly trips to Disney World with his wife and his grandchildren's sporting events. He will be sadly missed.
His family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the nurses, aides and staff at Marywood Heights for their excellent care and support during his stay and to the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassion.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 15, at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery, Hurd Street, Dover, N.J., at 11 a.m. Attendees shall meet in the parking lot of Bermingham's at 10:45 for a procession to the cemetery.
