Eleanor Yurtin

Our beloved mother, Eleanor Yurtin, entered eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday at home surrounded by her loving family. Her husband, William "Wally' passed away Aug. 8, 2002.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary Nakalasky Dziecuch and was a graduate of West Scranton High School. Eleanor retired from Arlington Industries, where she worked for many years, even cleaning the executive offices there after retirement. A woman of great faith, she was a devoted parishioner of St. George's Orthodox Church, Taylor and was a long time and active member of the altar society, serving as recording secretary. She was always there to lend a helping hand at all the church affairs. When in her presence, her smile was contagious, and she always exhibited love, kindness, and grace.

Eleanor had many enjoyments in life, family vacations at the beach and Florida visiting family, the casino, cooking and baking her ethnic dishes at the holidays and spending time with her dear friends at the Taylor Senior Center, where she was an active member. She will forever be remembered for her delicious pierogi and kolache which were the best.

Surviving are four daughters, Linda Mackie Solis, Daytona, Fla., Eleanor "Elly" (Ed) Stivala, Moscow, Mary Navich and Barbara (Rob) Galonis, all of Taylor; nine grandchildren, E.J. and Gregory Stivala, Amelie and Danny Solis, Thomas Navich, Brianna, Brenden and Alanna Galonis and Rachel Mackie; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Mackie; and several brothers; and a sister.

The Yurtin family would like to thank Dr. Mark Lyons, and staff and Allied Hospice for their care and support.

Family and friends are invited to attend Eleanor's funeral, which will begin on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. from the Semian Funeral Home, 704 Union St. Taylor, followed by services at 11:00 a.m. in St. George's Orthodox Church, 743 S.

Keyser Ave. Taylor. Interment, parish cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
