Henry "Karl" Snyder Jr., 84, Clarks Green, died Dec. 3 at Allied Services Hospice, Scranton, after a years-long battle with cancer. He is survived by his loving wife, Sally Snyder. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in September.
Born on May 8, 1937, the son of the late Henry K. and Thelma Snyder, Karl was a graduate of St. Mary's High School, Scranton. He started his career at Capital Records, Scranton and then after completing his service in the United States Army, moved to New Jersey to work for Bell Labs. He then returned to Scranton to work for McKinney Manufacturing as a general foreman. He was a longtime member of St. Gregory's Church, Clarks Green.
Karl was a lifelong basketball fan, whether playing or coaching. Karl was active as a basketball coach and referee. Affectionately known as "Bubbles" by his players, he coached at Our Lady of Peace for a number of years. He also coached the "Franks" local All Star teams with his good friend Frank Cimino. He remained a lifelong sports fan, especially of the Phillies, the Eagles and Syracuse basketball. After the children were grown and they had free time, Sally and Karl took to golf and they both became addicted from the start. Whether it was watching it or playing it, they were passionate fans of the sport.
His family wishes to thank all of Karl's caregivers throughout his illness for their compassion and care.
He is survived by his three children, Cheryl Tolan, Berwick, Robert (Judy), Clarks Summit, and Stephen, Philadelphia; and his grandchildren, Emily and Sean Tolan; his brother, Joseph (Diane), Ransom; sister-in-law, Deborah Snyder, Round Lake, N.Y.; sister and brother-in-law, Maggie and Warren Stevens, Scranton; and many nieces and nephews.

Bob. Sorry to heard about your father's passing. Jim and I would see your father and mother golfing at shadowbrook. They certainly enjoyed that course. My condolences to you, Judy, and the rest of your family. Sorry for your loss.
