Herbert (Herb) Stanley Moskowitz, 86, resident of Miami and formerly of Scranton, passed away last Friday in Miami after a short illness.
Born in Scranton, the son of the late Henry S. Moskowitz and Ethel Jaffe Moskowitz and brother of the late Sally Moskowitz Beres, he was educated in Scranton and Forest Hills public schools before going off to college at Bowling Green where he wrote for the school newspaper, the B-G News. He was in the advertising business and traveled the world, making many lifelong friends along the way. Herb was known for his quick wit and voracious love of books, cultural non-western art, world travel and political commentary. Herb lived in New York City and San Francisco and resided in Hong Kong for 35 years until recently moving to Miami.
Herb is survived by his beloved husband, Jack Ngan; his niece, Deborah Beres Supple; his nephew, Richard Beres; his great-nieces, Emily Supple and Tali Beres; and his great-nephews, Samuel Supple and Charlie Beres. He is also survived by his many very close cousins and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Dalton Jewish Cemetery, 105 Shoemaker Road, Dalton, Pa., by Rabbi Daniel Swartz. All those unable to attend in person are invited to view the service via scrantonfilms.com/livestream.
