Irene Glowatz

Irene Glowatz, 92, formerly of Peckville and a resident at Wesley Village for the last three years, died Sunday at Geisinger Wyoming Valley. She was the wife of Michael Glowatz Sr., who died in 1983.

Born in Dickson City, daughter of the late Demetrius and Anastasia Kuzmick Kuzmick, she was a member of All Saints Russian Orthodox Church, Olyphant, and a graduate of Dickson City High School class of 1943. She loved her garden and took pride in keeping her house and lawn well-maintained. Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Surviving are two sons, Michael Jr. and wife, Pauline, Newtown; and Mark and wife, Jennifer, Duryea, a sister, Alice Choma, Milton, Fla.; four grandchildren, Christina, Jason, John Paul and Alex; four great-grandchildren, Liberty, Dale, Isabella and Elaina; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph; and four sisters, Mildred Kidon, Mary Stuchlak, Olga Kuzmick and Antoinette Sivetz.

The funeral will be Thursday with services at 10 a.m. in All Saints Russian Orthodox Church, Olyphant. Interment will be in St. Tikhon's Orthodox Cemetery, South Canaan.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville. All those attending the funeral service are asked to go directly to the church Thursday.
