John "Jack" F. Gallagher, husband, father, Pop Pop, brother, runner, punster, tap dancer and world traveler, died Sept. 30, 2021 after an illness, surrounded by his family. He leaves the love of his life Mary, to whom he was married 61 years; his son, John Jr. (Colleen); daughter, Mikella (Jack Grygiel); son, Matthew; grandchildren, Kelsey, LJ, Keelyn, Sophie and Charlie; and sister Kathleen Gavigan (Dennis).
An avid runner, he ran some 36,000 miles from age 50 including 20 half and 11 full marathons, ending with the Dublin marathon in 2017, where at the age of 83, he won his age category. Jack graduated from West Scranton High School in 1952. After serving in the United States Army, he earned a B.S. in accounting from the University of Scranton, going on to earn his CPA certification. During his career, he was a financial executive for several large companies. His career took him around the world and he visited more than 55 countries. After moving to Winter Park, he served as chief financial officer of Philip Crosby Associates and Alexander Proudfoot Company.
Jack was an active member of the community, particularly at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic minister. He volunteered with the church's homeless feeding program and led countless food and blanket drives.
The funeral will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park, Fla., on Friday, Nov. 5, with 10 a.m. visitation and Mass at 11 a.m.

Jack was truly a running inspiration to me. I enjoyed many a Sunday run with him, the conversation and friendship. He was always upbeat, inclusive of the entire group and kind. The world was a better place because of him!
